Interior health hospitals allow 1 support person and a doula. Some restrictions apply. Communicate with Interior Health or call your local hospital for more information. The restrictions and guidelines are subject to change. I would suggest mentioning to your health care provider your wish to have a doula at your birth ahead of time as the situation is constantly changing.
For homebirth, communicate with your midwife to find out about their expectations regarding PPE for the doula and partner if applicable.
The current province wide COVID-19 restrictions do not restrict access to in-home essential services including postpartum support and in-person prenatal visits.
I do my part to protect you and your family from COVID-19. I cannot eliminate risks entirely but I have adjusted my services including but not limited to:
- I am fully vaccinated according to recommendations (booster included)
- Wearing a mask during in-person visits
- Increase hand-washing
- Offering virtual support
I do NOT expect clients to disclose their vaccination status or wear a mask in their own home. I do expect everyone to notify me if they, or someone from their household, was feeling unwell, was tested positive to COVID-19 or had been in contact with someone who tested positive and to take every reasonable precautions to protect me and my family as well as the other families I serve.
This can be a challenging time and I encourage you to reach out if you need support more than ever. Stay safe !
